On 30 September and 1 October, our Community Investment team collaborated with the NN Data Science Guild to support five of our societal partners through an AI Hackathon for Social Good. This event aimed to build AI capabilities and enhance the operational effectiveness of these partners, enabling them to support more people in need.
At NN, we want to be an recognised for our customer engagement, talented people, and contribution to society. We believe that also means taking responsibility for the well-being of the wider society. This commitment drives us to use our resources, expertise, and reach to help society achieve long-term sustainable prosperity.
The projects and their impact
- Young Impact: A dedicated group developed a technical solution to automatically search school websites for initiatives related to diversity and sustainability. This tool will empower Young Impact to amplify their efforts and create even greater impact.
- Nationaal Ouderenfonds: This team created is creating a PowerBI dashboard to provide insights into the effectiveness of recruitment campaigns. Additionally, the dashboard helps understand donor behavior, distinguishing between one-time donors and recurring supporters.
- Stichting Thuisgekookt: To improve the matching system between foodies (customers) and home cooks, our colleagues worked on a method to train the prediction model using historical match data. This enhancement aims to increase the success rate of future matches so that more matches can be made.
- Tech Me Up: This initiative helps people retrain for tech jobs. A dedicated team developed a model that predicts whether a participant needs additional guidance to secure employment after retraining. This proactive approach ensures timely support for those in need.
- Stichting Jarige Job: Our colleagues tackled three projects for this foundation. They have calculated the savings from switching to sustainable cotton decorations, developed a method to assess the effectiveness of recruitment campaigns, and created a map to visualise the potential of enlarging the number of birthday children per postal code, aiding in targeted marketing efforts.
A collective effort
Approximately 30 NN colleagues volunteered their time and skills to work on these projects, broadening their perspectives on societal issues and making a tangible difference. Their dedication and expertise exemplify NN’s commitment to using our capabilities for the greater good. Together, we are not just supporting our societal partners but also contributing to a more sustainable future for all.
