GOTO Conference 2024: insights and highlights

Tech

Last week NN visited and sponsored GOTO Amsterdam 2024, a two-day conference for software developers, architects, and technology leaders from around the world. A group of enthusiastic colleagues represented NN at a booth in the expedition hall while Group IT colleagues Flavia Naezer and Vijai Ramcharan represented NN on stage. Here are some insights and highlights from the event.

The conference featured a wide range of sessions, workshops and a lineup of keynote speakers who shared their insights on topics such as software engineering, AI, and product thinking. One standout speaker was Dr. Imran Rashid, a best-selling author and Director of Health Innovation at Lenus. He spoke about the impact of digitalisation on our biological, psychological, and social well-being, and share insights on how we can embrace technology without sacrificing our humanity.

Tech talk Flavia and Vijai
We were very proud to have Flavia Naezer and Vijai Ramcharan on the stage representing NN. They spoke about how they built NN’s Internal Development Platform (IDP) by incorporating Product Thinking alongside Spotify’s Backstage. Flavia: ‘It was super awesome to have conversations about Product Thinking at GOTO. Nice to see the tech industry responsive to this topic. Our talk on the IDP was also really fun to do and great for the team spirit.’

 Networking at the NN booth
In addition to the informative sessions and workshops, the conference was a great opportunity for networking and socialising with like-minded professionals. Visitors were able to play the NN Wordle game at the NN booth that was built by Group IT developers Alpar Gal, Bob Verheij, Babita Verma, Eddy Vos, Miquel Monreal and Roel Siffels. The game was a great way to connect and worked surprisingly well as a conversation starter. The smoothie bar at the booth was also a favourite pitstop for visitors to replenish. Delicious orange-coloured smoothies were on the menu with techie names like Delightful Data, Code Crush and Awesome API.

Interview with Flavia
During the GOTO Conference, Flavia was interviewed by Julian Wood, Senior Developer Advocate at AWS. Watch the interview  if you'd like to get more insights in what Product Thinking is and how Flavia uses this at NN.
