Product Owner Data Streaming

We are looking for an entrepreneurial Product Owner to lead our new Data Streaming team at NN and help us achieve our goal of becoming a socially responsible tech company that delivers digital products our customers love.

 
What you are going to do

As a Product Owner for our Data Streaming team, you will be responsible for enabling the entire company to leverage data and events better across domains in order to serve our customers better and more efficiently. By delivering the Confluent Kafka platform as a new product and driving the data streaming strategy at NN Group, you’ll have a significant impact on helping the company become Future Ready.

We are looking for an entrepreneurial Product Owner who is able to combine customer obsession and business acumen with platform engineering capabilities in order to deliver a data streaming solution based on Confluent Kafka successfully.

At NN Group, our Confluent Kafka platform has been selected as the platform of choice for providing the event- and data streaming capability across all business units. Group IT has been selected as the owner of the service and so-called productization is now underway in order to provide a production-ready Confluent Kafka platform to the entire company. As the Product Owner you will contribute to completing this productization by making sure all the features are in order, including:

• Deploying the platform on Kubernetes in AWS (EKS) through GitOps (ArgoCD)
• Implementing Apache Flink and Kraft
• Integrating with ServiceNow for ITSM and self-service workflows
• Implementing observability and monitoring
• Optimizing Identity and Access Management
• Enhancing security configurations and monitoring
• Designing and building enabling mechanisms, like standard patterns for users, an event catalogue and others
• Designing a charge-back model
• And more

In addition to these deliverables, you will play an important role in building and implementing NN Group’s data streaming strategy. NN admires to become a Digital and Data Driven Organization, as one of its primary strategic commitments. The company aims to leverage data to transform its business and drive operational excellence to better serve its customers. We are just at the forefront of that transformation and platforms like Confluent Kafka need to be combined with appropriate data streaming strategies and subsequent use-cases in order to pursue this strategic commitment. As a Product Owner, you will drive this transformation with your vision and strategy for data streaming and the Confluent Kafka platform. You will engage with senior leaders within the organization (e.g. architects, C-level executives and Product Managers) to design and implement an effective strategy around data streaming and to create business value through Confluent Kafka. You empathize with end users and create cross-organizational partnerships that ensure Confluent Kafka effectively solves a data streaming problem for the company and creates value. At the same time, you will partner with the Domain Architect for Integration and the Product Manager for the NN Engineering Experience & Platforms domain.

Who you will work with

The Data Streaming team is part of the Engineering Experience & Platforms domain. This domain is responsible for optimizing the NN engineering experience by delivering a frictionless and integrated engineering journey through the Internal Developer Platform and supporting the software delivery lifecycle with CI/CD solutions. While also offering several reliable platforms that provide integration or hosting solutions (e.g. API Gateway and Kubernetes). We serve DevOps teams within NN globally and we can measure our success using the DORA metrics (amongst others). We are successful when DevOps teams optimize their performance on deployment frequency, change lead time, change failure rate, mean time to recover. Aside of course from delivering a positive impact to developer happiness across the company. In short our domain is driven by the following principles:

• The primary objective for our domain is to optimize the NN Engineering Experience. That’s why we have a healthy dose of customer obsession
• Our primary goal is to build an Internal Developer Platform
• We leverage platform engineering through Kubernetes as the strategic accelerator

The domain is product focused and consists of a group of energetic and empowered engineers and product teams. We strive to make cloud native engineering successful across the entire company (including our international units). We really value our culture and nourish it at every opportunity. Team events are regularly organized. Last year we did airsofting, go-karting, game days, had a Christmas event and did several dinners with the teams.
