It might be a slightly unusual combination, but I’m thoroughly enjoying it! On Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays I work at Nationale-Nederlanden, where I’m responsible for optimising I alternate my days at NN with my work as a youth worker, where I make TV programmes with young people and lead a large summer camp.

I’ve worked at Nationale-Nederlanden for more than 15 years now and in that time, I’ve found NN to be an employer where there’s always scope for a good work/life balance. I achieve that by working part-time and doing other work on the other two days. Other people achieve a balance by working full-time, but with lots of scope to develop personally by means of education and training.

I started in IT by working on a dual project that NN had started with The Hague University of Applied Sciences. I now work in the e-business department where I’ve recently developed as an A/B Testing specialist. In this role, I’m responsible for the continuous optimisation of and for ensuring that we have the highest possible conversion among customer who take out an insurance policy (Conversion Rate Optimisation). In recent years, I’ve seen NN develop from a large insurance company with a slightly cumbersome IT department into a business that leads the way in e-business. If I look at the large group of driven, innovative colleagues, I can see a bright future for NN!

I think what I appreciate the most is the space my manager gives me to develop in my specialist area. It’s my job to come up with the best for NN and to see how I can steer such a large organisation through the developments in Conversion Rate Optimisation. Nobody keeps tabs on me. There’s lots of trust. For me, it’s the perfect place to maximise my potential!
