Why did you start working at NN?
During my studies I heard about the opportunity to do an internship related to my field of studies (MSc Investment Analysis). During my internship I met many interesting people and I enjoyed the time very much. There was a fit between me and the company which has lasted until today.

How long have you been working at NN and what was your first job?
I started in 2011 in the Pricing and Valuation team as an intern which later lead to a full-time employment. In 2013 an opportunity opened up within Risk Management which helped me to make a career move within the company.

What do you like most in your job?
The variety of the work itself and the freedom which is given to me to come up with way of solving a problem. The company provides the platform for ambitious people to use their full expertise.

What does an average working day look like for you?
Every day is different and I have to multi-task. Some days are a bit quieter than others, but in general, many ad-hoc questions come up which require my attention. That can, for instance, be in relation to news impacting portfolios positions, questions from regulators or clients on particular risk figures or other topics falling into my area of expertise.

How would you describe the culture at NN?
Low hierarchy. I was amazed by how approachable colleagues are (including higher management) and how willing people throughout the company are to share insights about their area of expertise. This culture helps a lot to understand the business better and provide feedback and ideas in an informal way.
