1. What do you like most in your Job?
Since I started as a trainee at the ERM department in September 2019 I have always been given the chance to learn and to have open communication with my colleagues and managers not only from my department but from several departments within NN Group and our different Business Units. What I like the most is the fact that I have been able to ask for challenging tasks and I have been given responsibility for extensive projects. The exposure to the dynamics of NN Group Risk and the challenges that I have encountered have helped me a lot to grow as a professional and that is a benefit which young professionals should welcome as growth is the motor of success.
2. What does an average working day look like for you?
Well, Since Corona, mostly everything has changed but in some domains, for the better! The start of my day consists of summarizing the tasks and the progress that I want to make for the day (which I write in my notes) based on the processes that are being executed within the team and my specific project/s. At 10 am, we always have a meeting to align the progress of the team and to coordinate tasks. After the meeting, it is time to execute. We have regular meetings with process owners to align and execute efficiently (team work) and around 14:30 we have a second team meeting to discuss the pending items. The constant interaction makes the work enjoyable and efficient.
3. How long have you been working at NN and what was your first job?
I have been working at NN for more than 1 year now, I started as an intern in the reporting team at NNIP and four months after starting the internship, I became a Finance & Risk trainee. Previously I was working at Risk Advisory for EY in the Madrid Office.
4. What is the most inspiring workplace for you?
My most inspiring workplace is a company were all employees are equally highly motivated and where everyone finds the purpose for what they do, a company in which we all show respect and value for each other’s work and where we all make efforts to make things better with a natural curiosity to learn and improve.
5. What was the last team outing and what did you do?
Just right before the Dutch government dictated lockdown, the manager at ERM took the team into a one full day workshop in which we learned better agile ways of working, we brainstormed within the team in order to find better approaches to do work and after we had fun at an escape room and a team diner, it was a really great team building event.
