How long have you been working at NN and what was your first job?

I started working at NN in 2010 as an intern in Business Support & Control. After 6 months of internship, I joined the team as a Portfolio Process Analyst, supporting portfolio managers to maintain and improve the investment process. Since 2013 I have been working within the European Investment Grade Credit team as a credit analyst.

What does an average working day look like for you?

Most of the time, mornings are busy. When entering the office, the first thing I do is go through all relevant news about the market. Also, there might be some new bond issues coming to the market. I will discuss these issues with portfolio managers and make investment recommendations. I normally end my morning with a workout at the gym or have a quick lunch break. In the afternoon, I have more time to read fundamental research, build my financial models and do administrative or commercial work.

What do you like most in your job?

I really enjoy all the challenges in my job, posed by the market, colleagues or other parties. These challenges keep me sharp and urge me to improve all the time.

How is the culture within the department?

The culture in European Investment Grade Credit is very open and diverse thanks to the different backgrounds of the colleagues. Everyone is result-driven and working hard, which has so far led to 11 successive years of outperformance for our Euro Investment Grade credit fund.

When was the last team outing and what did you do?

Right before Christmas last year, the team went ice skating in front of the “Kurhaus” in Scheveningen. Unfortunately, I didn’t join the ice skating part since I cannot skate, but I definitely enjoyed the nice team dinner afterwards.
