Senior Data Scientist – European Equity Strategies

Job description

The primary goal of the European Equities team is to manage a range of actively-managed European and Euro focused equity strategies for our clients, ranging from Quantamental Europe/Euro portfolios as well as European Small Cap and European/Euro Value & Country portfolios. In practice this means analysts, data scientists and portfolio managers together work to find the best investment ideas for these portfolios and construct these in the best way possible. This team is continuously looking for innovation, including innovation through the use of new behavioral and alternative data sources as well as new techniques, all to further enhance the investment process. As a Data Scientist you will drive research and innovation in these areas to generate new insights and additional value in the investment process.

The job consists of working in close collaboration with portfolio managers and analysts. In order to get the best out of the team, we are looking for a data scientist who has strong communications skills and is capable generating a buy-in for his or her solutions and innovations. 

As senior data scientist we want you to find leading edges in big data analytics and quantitative investments that will enhance the investment management outcomes with the aim of generating long-term sustainable alpha for our clients.


Meet your team

This vacancy is located within the European Equity team, a team of 8 portfolio managers and 9 analysts whose primary focus is to perform in-depth, bottom-up company & equity analysis in combination with innovate quantitative and behavioral tools which are currently being developed. NN is a large organization. If you start working with our team, you will work for business unit NN Investment Partners. Location of the team is the Hague.  



  • Most important job requirements:
  • Strong analytical skills & proven affinity with Data Science
  • Degree in Econometrics / Mathematics or similar (PhD an advantage)
  • Experience with programming languages as well as portfolio optimization tools
  • Strong drive for innovation and integration of new technologies in investing
  • Self-starting and creative and a pragmatic and rigorous approach to solving problems

As a Senior Data Scientist your personal qualities will play a decisive role.
