The Financial Risk Management department of NN Life is currently looking for a Medior Investment Risk manager, with knowledge of financial markets, investment risks and strategic asset allocation (SAA) studies. As an Investment Risk manager you combine strong analytical abilities, an independent and critical mindset with excellent communicational skills to ensure that NN Life will stay in control and deliver upon its promises.
Your added value as an Investment Risk Manager at NN
As an Investment Risk manager you will be part of the Financial Risk Management team of NN Life which is responsible for SCR consolidation, managing market risks and investment risks. This team is part of the risk department of NN Life.
In this position you will play an important role in providing independent second line challenges and review opinions on investment deals in predominantly illiquid asset classes (real estate, private equity, infra equity and private debt), that are discussed and approved in the Asset & Liability Committee of NN Life. Furthermore, you will participate in the strategic asset allocation project of NN Life: you will test and challenge the main results, ensure all risks are adequately addressed and help shaping the future SAA strategy.
As an Investment Risk manager you need to make sure that all risks are adequately taken into account in the investment decisions made for the general account of NNL as well as for the separate account portfolio. As such you will represent NN Life in several committees and you need to closely cooperate with various departments within NN, such as NN Group Investment Office, NN Investment Partners and NN Group Risk.

- You will provide substantiated, critical and independent second line reviews on investment proposals, investment mandates and investment manager evaluations and you are able to clearly communicate the main findings to all stakeholders
- You will take initiative to analyse the investment risks ans the asset allocation of NN Life, and provide sound advice to the NN Life management
- You will contribute to the implementation of the strategic leadership agenda (SLA), including playing a leading role in the innovation and automation projects of FRM;

Financial Risk Management (FRM) reports to the head of FRM and is part of the Risk Management department at NN Life. The FRM team consists of in total ten experts, with a background in asset management, investments, econometrics and actuarial science. In the FRM team investment risk, market risk and SCR consolidation are combined in one team. Critical skills of a Investment Risk Manager
You have excellent analytical skills and you are able to explain complex matters to all stakeholders in a transparent way. You can easily adapt and absorb new information in a changing environment and independently form a critical an well substantiated opinion and effectively stand-up for this opinion. You are a real team player.
Furthermore you bring:
- A master’s degree, in investments, econometrics or similar. A CFA, FRM or equivalent qualification is a plus;
- Knowledge of financial markets, investment risk and strategic asset allocation
- At least 5 - 10 years of experience in Investment Risk Management or Asset Management
