Your impact as a Compliance Officer Corporate Compliance at NN
In this role you will have the responsibility to support and oversee certain Corporate Staff Department(s)/Business Unit(s). You will act as a business partner to the Head(s) and other stakeholders in the department(s)/unit(s). You will develop and maintain a thorough understanding of the department(s)/unit in your portfolio and in your assessment of Compliance related risk, for which you take developments in the in- and external operating environment into account.
You will work in a small team, which is part of the Corporate Compliance department. Providing mutual support is important, as is sharing and gathering knowledge. Based on your own knowledge level, skill set and preference, you will also participate in projects to improve the control environment within NN, which are set out in our year plan.
The NN Corporate Compliance team consists of 24 employees, managed by the Chief Compliance Officer with 3 managers. The team consists of employees that support and oversee the business and develop and maintain Group-wide Centres of Expertise (Customer Suitability, Distribution, Financial Economic Crime, Conflict of Interests, Market abuse, Digitalisation and laws like PRIIPS and IDD, FATCA and CRS). In addition, the team operates a number of shared services (regarding client/business partner screening, personal account dealing and filing reports to regulators regarding our share in other stock listed companies). The team is also responsible for a well-functioning Whistle Blowing procedure.
Within the Compliance function, we aim for constructive cooperation between ourselves, our direct colleagues in the business units and other control functions and our colleagues that drive the business. As an organisation as well as a function we are in a continuous learning cycle to increase our performance in an effective and efficient way. This means that we question what we do and how we do that and look for smarter ways if possible.
Using your own initiative and ambition, you achieve excellent results:
- You set clear direction on the compliance ambition for the department(s)/unit(s)
- You provide excellent advice to the department(s)/unit(s) in order to manage compliance risks adequately
- You monitor effectivity of the set compliance framework and take appropriate action if needed
Critical skills of a Compliance Officer Corporate Compliance
You have a high learning agility, meaning you can easily adapt and absorb new information in a changing environment. Customer service is central to everything you do. Thanks to your highly developed communication and social skills, you accomplish this with ease. You draw the best out of yourself as well as those around you. If you can help someone, you do not think twice about it. You are organization sensitive and a real team player. You are flexible when it comes to prioritising your tasks but simultaneously show stamina on the content. You are honest and discrete and your English is fluent. Further more you bring:
- Bachelor or Master’s Degree or similar level of education, preferably in the area of Law, Finance, Economics or Business Administration;
- Minimum of 8 years of working experience, preferably in the commercial sector of which a minimum of 4 years’ experience in the financial services industry;
- Good understanding of and experience in financial industry;
- Knowledge of and affinity with financial products and instruments.
- Knowledge of and affinity with IT and digitalization
