We help people take care of what they really find important in life. As a life insurance company, we protect our customers by providing strong product solutions. And we support each and every Belgian in their search for happiness. With 1.6 million unique customers, 600 happy employees and an annual turnover of 1 billion euro, NN is part of a strong international group. That’s why we are delighted to welcome potential colleagues to NN who would like to have a positive impact on the lives of each of our customers!

What difference will you make as Risk Analyst at NN?

As an insurance mathematician with a great talent for calculating and evaluating risks, you will analyse NN's solvency and changes to capital requirements. You will contribute to strengthening our capital position and enhance the reports submitted to the National Bank of Belgium.

Despite the fact that we don’t have a crystal ball to gaze into at NN to predict the future, we do try and make our forecasts as accurate as possible using models and hypotheses about customer behaviour. And in doing so, we take account of the various scenarios that may occur. You will also have responsibility for the actuarial reporting of the cashflows resulting from these scenarios. Insights into these movements are monitored constantly and compared with the expected results.

  • You will use your analytical skills to delve into the developments and financial manoeuvres in the policy area for ‘Life’. You will set up, test and improve transparent processes. This will involve working with colleagues from a range of different departments, such as Capital Management, Modelling & Process Innovation and Finance, both within Belgium and internationally.
  • You feel comfortable in the world of Solvency II and are able to find your way through market-valued balance sheet totals, insurance risks and quantitative reporting. You also have a healthy interest in the latest developments in the sector, such as IFRS17 & 9, advanced data analysis techniques, etc.
  • Success grows through collective togetherness and motivation. As part of a tight-knit team, you will not only work on your own success, but also that of your colleagues. In doing so, you will continuously share your expertise and stimulate the growth and development of the team so that, together, you contribute to the organisation’s aims and ambitions.
  • You will join forces with four risk professionals from the Liability Valuation team, which is located in the Financial & Insurance Risk Management department. As a result of the flat structure and open communication within our organisation, you’ll find there is a close, friendly working atmosphere in which it is not unusual, for example, for the CFO to actively join in an provide support and advice. So it’s not just a question of making the numbers tally, but also delivering genuine results together. Now that’s NN!

What qualities does our ideal Risk Analyst have to offer?

A university degree in a subject such as econometrics, mathematics, (business) economics or actuarial science, combined with a minimum of 3 years’ relevant work experience in the field. You’ve come to the right place for a good cup of coffee, too. Add to this an in-depth knowledge and understanding of life insurance products and you’ll be sure to enjoy an interesting conversation.

  • As an insurance mathematician, there’s no need for us to explain to you that you need to have good analytical strengths and the ability to be very precise.
  • You are proficient in Office applications, particularly Excel. Knowledge of Python, PowerBI, R³S or Unify would be valuable for processing data and analysing and optimising processes.
  • Finally, you are fairly strong in both verbal and written English. Fluency in Dutch or French would be a plus.

The work you’ll be doing requires a high level of teamwork. Ideally, the team will be gaining a supportive and assertive person in you, with outstanding communication skills. You also enjoy helping other people and expanding your own knowledge.

We will ask quite a lot of you, but you will get a great deal in return. What does NN have to offer you?
