Product Owner

That’s why we are delighted to welcome potential colleagues to NN who would like to have a positive impact on the lives of each of our customers!

What impact will you have as Product Owner at NN?

As Product Owner, your focus will be on implementing a Data Integration Layer (DIL) aimed at achieving the better, forward-looking integration and exchange of data. Financial analysis is increasingly data-driven and so also requires increasingly accurate insights, which means that data from different applications needs to be centralised and accessible. The advent of new accounting standards, such as IFRS17, further demonstrates the need for such a project. You will begin by concentrating on the Finance and Risk department, but in the longer term, the DIL will also incorporate other operational and commercial data integration needs.

As Product Owner, it will be your task to coordinate the successful and timely implementation of the DIL, based on the Scaled Agile Framework methodology (SAFe). In doing so, you’ll be building a bridge between the Finance and IT departments. How? By providing the necessary business value and prioritisation. Plus you’ll be ensuring that the contents of the business features and the required deliverables are clear and you’ll also be guaranteeing a good balance between business features and IT features. In addition, you’ll facilitate the collaboration between the business analysts and the Agile team, in particular the refining process, the implementation of stories and defining the UAT methodology. You’ll work with the Agile Release Train development teams and Product Management in terms of development activities.

The following activities will come under your responsibility:
  • Defining and promoting your product and vision clearly and in line with the objectives of the business;
  • Prioritising needs and objectives according to budget, scope and time;
  • Maintaining contact with other projects in order to anticipate data requirements and to identify and plan for synergies and dependencies;
  • Supervising all of the development phases of your product;
  • Managing, monitoring and reporting on the roadmap and performance of the project;
  • Maintaining good communication in order to retain stakeholder buy-in.

What do you have to offer as Product Owner

Our ideal new Product Owner is hands-on, pragmatic and focused on solutions. Outstanding people skills are important, too, because you’ll be working across various departments with business and IT stakeholders. You’re not afraid of working in a dynamic environment where there is constant movement going on, because you’re familiar with change and transformation projects. You also have at least 10 years of relevant work experience to draw on, of which at least five have been in project management (according to Waterfall or Agile models).

What other qualities are we looking for?
  • You have a Master’s degree in IT, Engineering, Management, Business Administration or equivalent gained through experience;
  • You have already worked in the finance sector, enabling you to quickly assimilate basic actuarial principles and concepts such as IFRS17, Solvency II, etc.;
  • Experience in managing data management solutions would be a major plus point;
  • From planning to implementation, your coordination skills enable you to direct a project successfully;
  • You’re a team player and good at involving the stakeholders from various departments;
  • You have good written and spoken communication skills;
  • You have very good knowledge of English. Good French or Dutch would be a bonus.

We will ask quite a lot of you, but you will get a great deal in return. What does NN have to offer you?

Care. Clear. Commit. NN provides a job that works for you.

NN needs people like you. People who are genuine and committed; people who are willing to give the best of themselves to our customers, bringing fresh ideas and the necessary drive to take the initiative. People who find our values logical and understandable. Any especially people with a unique personality that can make all the difference. So, just be yourself. That’s something we really appreciate at NN!

  • You will receive an attractive salary, supplemented by fringe benefits that include:
    group and hospitalisation insurance, meal vouchers and eco-vouchers, 20 days of holiday a year, plus 12 days of working time reduction leave.
  • You will be given the opportunity to discover and grow your unique talents so that you can develop your career further.
    There’s a whole range to choose from: personalised training programmes, workshops, coaching, on-the-job learning and so on.
  • At NN we know very well how important wellbeing is! That’s why we focus on achieving a good work-life balance.
    Working from home, flexible working and a fitness area with group classes are all there to make it easier for you to find the right balance.
  • And to give your creative side a helping hand, we have also thought carefully about providing an enjoyable, totally refreshed working environment, located in bustling Brussels, literally right next to Brussels South station, where you can feel at home.
