I’ve been working at NN for about 15 years now, in a variety of different positions. I joined Delta Lloyd as an external, but soon made the switch to being internal. First in ICT and then with human resources, where I had various jobs with alternating focus on people management and advisory roles.
Employee with two hats
Right now I’m wearing two hats. As Senior HR Advisor, I set up integration projects. We’re working on a new organisational model and I help shape our flexible way of working. I also take care of integrating HR systems, plus some other things. It’s a really varied package! I’m also HR Business Partner for the Management Team, HR, Audit and temporarily for the sales department. This whole combination gives me a real feel for what’s going on.
The difference
I like being able to make a difference as part of a great team where everyone’s got your back. Our greatest challenge? Supporting the business in implementing the chosen strategy. What sort of people do we need? What skills make a difference? How do we find new talents so that we can build for the future? Doing all that also means working on how employees and job applicants view our company. In practical terms, our whole building was recently given a makeover so that everyone can now work flexibly.
It’s great to see how things get moving
Sometimes you have to be a bit rebellious to get things moving faster. If you have a passion and are not afraid to take the bull by the horns, there’s a lot you can do here. They give you the space you need to take initiatives – but you have to seize the opportunities when they come your way. That’s why I’m still working here – not forgetting the great people I work with. When I had a fire at home recently, I received a lot of support. A good cheering chat, of course, but also lots of clothes, toys, etc. that people gave me spontaneously – including from colleagues I didn’t know very well. I really appreciated that.
A busy bee
In addition to working for NN, I’m the mother of 3 children: Sofie (5), Jeroen (10) and Wouter (12). I’m a member of the parents’ committee and board of the school where my youngest two go and I enjoy a nice barbecue with friends. For the past two years the whole family have become fans of glamping – luxury camping. It’s a good way to recharge my batteries. Because things are pretty full on at home. Which means there are choices to be made and having to be creative to find solutions!
